Dear SSF Family,
Yesterday’s year-end event reminded me, once again, of the incredible heart that lives within this community. Special note to Cloe, Dane, Kevin and everyone else who helped organise, plan, support, and make the day possible - thank you. Your kindness, your effort, and your belief in what we do didn’t just create an event…you created a moment of togetherness and joy that our community will carry with them into the new year.
I also want to speak directly to all those who join our SSF support groups ... our survivors, caregivers, and the healthcare professionals who walk this road alongside us. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for sharing your stories, your fears, your victories, and your strength. Every time you attend, every time you speak, listen, or simply sit in the room, you remind us why the SSF exists.
Support groups are not just meetings. They are lifelines.
They are places where a shaky voice can become a confident one… where tears turn into understanding… where someone who feels lost realizes they are not alone.
They are the heart of our mission - that no survivor should ever have to walk this journey alone - and the foundation of our vision: a community built on dignity, support, empowerment, and belief.
- Thank you for trusting us.
- Thank you for trusting each other.
- Together, you show what resilience truly looks like.
With gratitude and belief,
George Scola
